Veggie Garden

We used to live next door to where we are currently living. From time to time, I do miss some things about that apartment-like the garden right outside our doorstep. We used to spend so much time outdoors next to the garden-having dinner, reading books and allowing Sadie to keep a good lookout for the dogs walking by. This outdoor space certainly made up for the 700 sq ft indoor space!

Since we have remained close with the managers and other tenants, we have been able to expand and maintain the garden, and in return we share the wonderful harvest. You can call it a community garden of sorts. Our neighbors take turns in weeding, planting and watering. Many have even donated seeds, metal wire and stakes for the tomato and zucchini plants and all necessary gardening tools. I'll be honest, when they first dug up all of the grass, it was hard for me to picture what beauty we see there today.

Even little o takes a part in taste testing some of the foods. Although she wasn't too sure about these collard greens. Here is just a sampling of what we are growing:
Cucumber, Radishes, Beans, Peas, Corn, Okra, Collards, Swiss chard, Lettuce, Kohlrabi, Squash, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Spinach, Carrots, Beets
